Auto donation for charity has been a popular way to get tax benefits. Vehicle tax-deductible is an effective strategy for reducing your overall taxes.

In addition to helping your favorite charities raise some funds for social and community welfare, you can get some tax relief on your vehicle.

Enabling donors to make a major contribution to their most desired charities and non-profit organizations through a simple process of vehicle donation, Donate for Charity services are available for the Hunter Memorial Mural.

How Is It Done?

You donate your automobile to charity. The management of the charity sells the car and uses the sale price as a donation to their fund.

If the sale price is $500 or more, you get to deduct that amount from your taxes. If it is less than $500, you get to write off the fair market value of the car which may be up to $500.

Benefits of Tax Deductible Donation of a Car

There are many benefits for the donor of a car including the following:

  • Donate your car before the year ends and get yourself some nice deductions on your annual taxes.
  • Get rid of your old car that is no longer needed around the house
  • Save yourself from the hassle of selling the car or hauling it away for repairs
  • Most charitable organizations have extensive networks of car auction services and are likely to get good rates for your vehicle
  • Donate some valuable funds to a charitable organization and contribute to a greater cause for the good of humanity.

How You Should Go About It

Now more than ever, we must join together and continue to fight for what matters.  There are many ways that we can do that, but one of the most exciting is that of #GivingTuesday.  A day that is entirely dedicated to reaching out within your local community and giving your support however you can to those charities that need you now more than ever, this is a relatively new concept that has caught fire in the best possible way.  For Giving Tuesday 2020, please consider donating right now or reading to learn more!

What is GivingTuesday and What Does It Do?

A day focused on donating to a charity you care for. #GivingTuesday is about more than just forking over some cash.  This worldwide event encourages nonprofits and charitable organizations to register so that interested people can contribute from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

Since charities rarely receive any kind of funding, save for grants and one-top offers, they depend entirely on what the common person around them can offer.  Giving Tuesday 2020 is especially important due to financial hardships and required changes that have to be made in order to best protect everyone’s safety.  The donations are always put towards the core values of the organization that you are supporting.  At Hunter Memorial Mural, this is our goal, too.

How Will My Contribution Support the Hunter Memorial Mural?

Designed to help preserve our most important programs, including those which focus on creating our mural, outreach community programs, and education course for the greater Chattanooga community.

Our entire goal is to embrace the kindness of our namesakes and focus on always doing better for our local community members.  By choosing us as your charity to donate to, you’ll be giving us the power to make sure that we can continue to keep our doors open, our fundraising needs met, and our programs funded to ensure that we can keep on doing these jobs that are so important.

What Else Can I Do?

If you love the fundraising ideas and the concept of GivingTuesday but don’t have the capacity for it, financially speaking, we totally understand — these are hard times.  There are other ways that you can help, though!  You can reach out to those around you and ask them to contribute to us at HMM, and do the same thing online!

Hunter Memorial Mural Team

To keep your support local — just as we do — we also encourage you to look around you and your home to see who you can help.  Generosity and giving mean more than just money, after all, and supporting the community could be as simple as raking the leaves from storm drains or helping out a neighbor with other tasks and odd jobs that all contribute to a better overall community.

The time is now to put your money and/or energy to good use.  This December 1st, make Giving Tuesday 2020 a day of positive change and movement toward local support!  Interested in helping?  Donate now!

A boy is running

Tennessee and murals have become synonymous throughout the years. All you need to do is to walk through the streets of Nashville or venture into the Scenic City of Chattanooga. But how often do you stop, pause, and observe?

These Chattanooga murals are works of art, true, but their purpose goes beyond aesthetics. A perfect example of this is the Hunter Memorial Mural.

What are murals?

It’s hard not to miss a mural with its vastness and color. One simply has to imagine the painting in the Sistine Chapel, the graphic art in the streets of NYC, or the iconic Chattanooga murals. Despite being common, not many people know why they’re created in the first place.

In general, murals are a type of pictorial art, but they are different from conventional paintings or even mosaics. One of their distinctions is their seamless integration with the rest of the space’s architecture.

It explains why most of them are on ceilings and walls. They are also made on permanent surfaces. Some public art in Chattanooga may be paintings on a canvas, but artists also create renditions of their work on more permanent spaces likes buildings.

The history of murals is extensive. Some of their earliest forms date back to the Upper Paleolithic Periods through cave paintings. The ancient Egyptians also incorporated them in their tombs sometime in 3150 BC. During an excavation in Pompeii, the archeologists discovered that many establishments in the Roman city also featured both frescoes and murals.

From Europe and Asia, the painting style eventually reached the shores of the United States. In the twentieth century, one of the popular names in the industry was Diego Rivera, who also glamorized graffiti.

Importance of community murals in public spaces

Walking On Sunshine

The significance of Chattanooga murals and the like is enormous:

  • It can revive a decaying or struggling neighborhood. The Hunter Memorial is now part of the Scenic City, which drives thousands of tourists each year. Tourism contributes to both direct and indirect economies.
  • It supports communities in many ways. Take, for example, the Hunter Memorial Mural. It serves as one of the sources for Chattanooga fundraisers. The contributions will then help support different services and their community.
  • It enhances a community’s appreciation and participation in the arts. Diego Rivera painted on public walls because he wanted others to see art outside museums and galleries. The Hunter Memorial Mural serves as a community service Chattanooga needs, especially for the youth. It binds the people through art and nurtures creative talent.
  • It is a celebration, tribute, and reflection of the people’s culture. Nothing unites a community than a shared experience, and a mural can capture that. In the process, it enhances the feeling of belongingness.

What is The Hunter Memorial Mural?

The Hunter Memorial mural is one of the Chattanooga murals that celebrate people who made huge differences in people’s lives for generations. This one is a public tribute to W. C Hunter.

A pastor of the World’s Church of the Living God, Mr. Hunter, along with his family, was a beacon of hope and support for his community. Throughout the more than 45 years of service, he catered to the people’s needs. Some of the community service programs he did included the following:

  • Supported schools by buying uniforms or hosting barbecue fundraisers in Chattanooga, TN.
  • Assisted organizations like UNICEF, the Volunteer Fire Department, and World Vision.
  • Worked to feed the neighborhood with Food for the Poor and Feed America.

WC Hunter and his wife, Peggy, may have passed away, but their legacy lives on. The memorial continues to provide assistance to those in need and is a fitting reminder of the benefits of generosity and kindness.
Non-profit organizations like The Hunter Memorial are important, and luckily, plentiful these days. There are so many great causes in the world to support, and people trying to help others. Whether you lived in the United States and want to help your local community like The Hunter Memorial does, or you want to help feed the hungry overseas, there is an organization fighting to make the world a better place. Please support them in their efforts to help the world.
